Mujeres en la Industria de la Animación MIA is an association that arises from the need to give visibility to women in the Spanish animation industry. As a reference, it has its seed in Women in Animation WIA, the association that brings together the professionals of the Animation sector at an international level.

MIA was born from a small group of professional women who have rebelled against the disadvantages of working in production companies where the majority of the workforce are men, and where women do not have easy access to positions of responsibility or salary equality. In several conferences and meetings this movement began to take shape to improve a sector in which according to the White Book of Animation and Visual Effects in Spain 35% of the employees are women, which exceeds the average with respect to other technological sectors.

From MIA we want to facilitate, from the public and private sphere, the presence and visibility of women in the animation sector. It is the task of MIA to represent, defend and promote the common interests of the associates within the cultural, professional, economic, teaching, business, social, media and personal spheres within Spanish territory. In MIA we want to achieve full compliance with the rights of women who work in the animation sector, integrating and collaborating with other organizations and all social agents. From MIA we want to be references for other sectors that want to join an inclusive movement and open doors.
